Audi RS4 Review , specifications, and price

The Audi RS4 is a very fast version of the small Audi A4 that gives up its agility in exchange for all-wheel drive.

It has loud V-8 power and noise, but the cabin is comfortable and useful for everyday use, at least for the people in the front seats.

The RS4 is not cheap, though. It has a very high price tag. It sounds great and goes like gangbusters, but you're always aware of how heavy it is. For this class, the steering is a bit dull.

Europeans still enjoy high sedans, and they buy enough of them for automakers to keep putting money into making them better and better.

After selling for two years, the Audi RS4 Avant got a new, more aggressive look that makes us even more sad that it doesn't make it across the Atlantic.

Mechanically, the RS4 is the same as the RS5. It has the same engine and transmission as the RS5, which is a turbocharged 2.9-liter V-6 developed by Porsche that makes 444 hp and 443 lb-ft of torque.

As with all fast Audis, an all-wheel-drive mechanism and an eight-speed automatic gearbox send power to all four wheels.

There is also an option for a sports differential that can spread kinetic energy across the rear axle to improve handling.
